WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (AP) — Don't put Jim Grobe on Clemson's coaching wish list.

The coach at No. 21 Wake Forest said Tuesday that Clemson hasn't contacted him about replacing Tommy Bowden. He insisted that he isn't interested anyway because "I'm a Wake Forest guy."

Grobe has been mentioned for recent coaching vacancies at Alabama and Arkansas after building Wake Forest's once-lowly program into an Atlantic Coast Conference contender.

He laughed off reports that listed him as a possible candidate, saying "it's funny that every job that ever comes open, everybody runs right over and says, 'Hey, are you interested in that job? Have they contacted you?'"

Bowden stepped down Monday, four days after the Tigers fell to 3-3 following their 12-7 loss at Wake Forest.
