Members of the Henderson County Dive Team were asked Friday to assist the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office search for evidence in the murder of a 17-year-old boy shot Oct. 7 in a post office parking lot in Caroleen.
The dive team found pieces of a firearm believed to be related to the murder, said Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office Detectives Lt. Sam Williams. The team went into the water at 11 a.m. and found the first item at 3 p.m. The team has been called to Rutherford County before, and has traveled all over to lend assistance, including Haywood County and all of upstate South Carolina.
