1 reported injury at Deerfields

At least one man was injured during the weekend-long Transformus festival at Deerfields in northern Henderson County, despite initial reports from authorities that the event ended without incident.
People from around the Southeast and the country descended on the 940-acre property at the end of South Mills River Road late last week for Transformus, an art-themed event built around a large fire.
It was that fire that is at the center of the man's injuries. Mills River Fire Department Chief Rick Livingston said his department was dispatched to Deerfields Sunday at 11:30 p.m.
"We had the report of a person burned at Deerfields," Livingston said. "The man had severe burns to his hands, arms and upper body."
Livingston said that, according to witnesses, the middle-aged man fell into the fire. He declined to give the man's name.
"We flew the helicopter from Mission Hospitals in Asheville, but it was decided later to transport the man by ground due to complications (with the patient)," he said.
Livingston said he was unaware of the man's condition Monday.
The invitation-only event was limited to 1,500 people. Once guests arrived, they were not able to leave the property and return, limiting the amount of traffic in the rural community. The festival ended Sunday.
There were no brush fires reported, despite the presence of fire and the dry conditions in Western North Carolina.
Other agencies said they did not have any reports of arrests made during the festival.
Henderson County Sheriff's Office Spokesman Charlie McDonald said he was unaware of any incidents that required deputies to respond to the festival.
The N.C. Highway Patrol said that while they maintained normal patrolling routes during Transformus, they also did not have any reports of incidents.
