June C. Carpenter, 86, of Bluffton, S.C., passed away Wednesday, July 16, 2008, in Lynn Haven, Fla.
She was born July 3, 1922, in Mulberry Grove, Ill., to the late “Pete” and Minnie Ehrstine. She was preceded in death by her two brothers, Ellis Ehrstine of Livonia, Mich., and Gene Ehrstin of Gaylord, Mich. On July 7, 1945, she married Reginald L. “Reg” Carpenter in Detroit, Mich. He preceded her in death on Aug. 14, 1996. She is survived by three children Mark and wife, Candy, of Lima, Ohio; Gary and wife, Mary, of Linden, Mich.; and Lynne and husband, Fred Von Hinken, of Lynn Haven, Fla.; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Prior to retiring to Hendersonville in 1986, June resided in Fenton, Mich., where she was both a homemaker and a registered nurse. Following the death of her husband, June moved to the Bluffton/Sun City, S.C., region in 1998. She was active in many activities including the Sun City chorus and We-Gos. She thoroughly enjoyed socializing, family activities and shopping. She was a friend to many and loved by all.
A memorial celebration will be at 3 p.m. Saturday, July 26, at Grace Coastal Church, 15 Williams Drive, Okatie, S.C. Interment will be in Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, Va. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Covenant Hospice, 107 West 19th Street, Panama City, Fla. 32405.
