A Florida man was arrested Sunday by the Henderson County Traffic Enforcement Squad after registering 102 miles per hour in a 45 MPH speed zone.

Deputy Jason Cordell spotted a black Mercedes 550 traveling at what he estimated to be 100 mph on US 64 east toward Hendersonville around 3:00 p.m.

After clocking the vehicle speed at 102 mph, Cordell was able to get the Mercedes stopped short of the intersection of Howard Gap Rd. and US 64 east.

Carl Max Stecker, 42 years of age was arrested without incident at the scene. After further investigation deputies charged Stecker, of 525 South Flagler #18-B West Palm Beach Fla., with driving while impaired and possession of a concealed weapon. He was released later after posting a $3,000 dollar bond.

Sheriff Rick Davis was quick to point out the significance of this incident to the safety of the public. “This arrest is a solid testament as to why we have been taking stronger traffic enforcement action in Henderson County,” Davis said.
