Edwin McCain to headline White Squirrel Festival

- Last modified: May 15. 2008 9:52AM
Edwin McCain, a Southern singer-songwriter, will headline this year’s 5th Annual White Squirrel Festival, May 24-25.

Born and raised in Greenville, S.C., McCain started singing in church choir. From there, his Southern soul and acoustic storytelling only grew. Edwin’s parents, Watt & Wendy (Boatwright) McCain, can attest to his natural talents. The couple plans to attend the event and is excited about hearing “See Off this Mountain,” the song McCain wrote in memory of his grandmother, Ann Boatwright.

McCain is capable of delving head first into the all aspects of the human condition. Then through experience, he produces songs of uncommon insight and compassion for the entire human race.

Since his 1993 debut, McCain has garnered the attention of millions with the Top 10 smash “I’ll Be,” and the Diane Warren-penned Top 40 hit “I Could Not Ask for More.” In May 2005, McCain performed “I’ll Be” on the Dr. Phil Show, which was voted the “Best Wedding Song” by over one million viewers.

After just returning back from Iraq, where McCain and his band played for U.S. troops, McCain’s new album will be released. “Nobody’s Fault But Mine” will be released June 24.

Join Edwin McCain and seventeen other musicians will perform at the White Squirrel Festival, which was voted “Best Spring Music Festival in Western North Carolina.”
